Remembering ..........
Ailsa Walkiden (86), who partied nearly to the end and left this world on 13th May;
and Michael Ross, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, who died peacefully on 16th May.
It's a been a tough month - hopefully that is now the end of it!

This is the next project for the Lazy Gal Summer Class - Crazy Houses.
I've decided to take out the original block in the middle and the one to its left. I'm having fun mixing and not matching fabrics, playing with batiks and brights and seeing which way the rotary cutter takes me °vbs°

Eye Candy Thursday
I have been doing a lot on Ab Fab, but have reached a sort of stale mate. I need to stock up on threads.
The bit between the orange/black and the purple has been quilted with grey cotton, the purple with purple perle 8 (fans). Where the pins are at the top has since been quilted in multi coloured black/white/grey floss.
Above the orange has been quilted with multi coloured quiltilng thread and the brown with embroidery floss.
A wooo hooo! A friend told me about a lady going round the markets selling FQ's, threads, floss and perle 8, needles, etc. I found her at Brantôme market last Friday. Perle 8 and floss in every colour and reasonably priced. Lots of Coats & Clarke hand quilting thread too.
A walk around the garden before lunch?
Mme Nellie Moser feeling a bit sorry for herself. She is nearly over and is being munched by snails and slugs.
Every single tree is out, but for some reason the fig trees are late this year. Must have been the frost we had last month.
Blossom on the lemon tree. I'm getting a bit worried about her. Every time she puts out new shoots the blasted snails stuff themselves!
Grapes beginning to form. Must mix up some Bordeaux Mixture and do some spraying.
The white lilac is nearly over. I like the brown and white together. Mmmmmmm amazing how everything goes back to quilts :-)
Everyone's Irises are nearly over too, but for some reason mine flower much later. We've got loads of flowers this year.
Time for lunch I think!

Sewing like I'm possessed
For Tonya's Summer Class. I'm continuing the repetition theme by doing some wonky houses.
The picture has come out a bit dark - bit of a grey day here today.
Quilt No 7 for Qs4L
I love the apple block and Irene's block, first left, second row down.
It's a Bank Holiday here today (Victorie 1945), Alex is off school until next Tuesday and it's raining! DH and I spent yesterday making flower beds in the courtyard. Didn't get very far, but a start is better than nothing.
Itching to get back to the sewing machine, but the list of outside chores is growing by the day. The pool has got to be power washed, with treated with acid, power washed again and then painted and if we want it open soon, as we do, then sewing is going to have to take a back seat.

Thrifty Thursday
Oh bargains - lots of bargains (ok then, a few!).
This week's haul!
The camera is not behaving itself. Goodness only knows why. Pictures are coming out grainy.
We have 4 balls of DMC Perle 8 at 0.50 centimes a ball found at the vide grenier at Léguillac last Sunday.
Then we have a lovely big pile of batik FQ's all the way from Georgetown, TX and apparently more on their way. Lovely lovely Megs.
And now for the bargains of the year.
You will know the Jan Mullen book as Cut Loose Quilts. On the back it says 31€. I got it for 4€ and it's brand new. I'm not keen on the fabrics, but I like the ideas.
The Inspiration Patchwork is not really my scene, but it was only 5€ and, again, is brand new!
Funny - I always walk past the book stands at brocantes as they are usually horrendously expensive. This one wasn't :-)
Been busy busy busy. More when I've got something to show.
