Seeing Stars

I still haven't quite got the hang these - they really are either incredibly wonky or liberated, depending on which side of the fence you sit.

Yes Tonya, I know the one bottom right hasn't got any contrast on the left hand point, but I'm still practising.  Actually that particular star is my favourite.

The one on the left has got another Clare's DOH.  I'm beginning to think that every single quilt I make will have a DOH in it!

There is a new shop in Brantôme selling Egyptian glass, ornaments, furniture and other bits and pieces, including appliqué cushion covers and throws.  Couldn't get a photo of the throws and only managed to get this one when the proprietor's back was turned!

Another hot day today.  We are getting ready for the Viveurs Annual Summer Meet which means cleaning out the barn, summer cleaning bedrooms and turning the house upside down!

Have a great weekend.

Gwen Marston and Liberated Quiltmaking

Tonya has been in contact with the AQS trying to get them to reprint Liberated Quiltmaking.

They have answered her email as follows:
"Here’s what would help: AQS would like to know how many people would commit to pre-ordering an exact reprint priced at $36 or so. If you would capture this information among Gwen’s fans, say in the next couple of weeks or however long it takes you to ask around, and pass it along to me, we’ll take a look at the idea."

We want to get it reprinted so please please please hop over to Tonya's blog here and leave a comment.  Alternatively please email me at lebrouillac at gmail dot com and I will forward it on to Tonya.

On your marks, get set, go!

The Day the Earth Shook

One ruler with some dark blue FQ's to finish my Lazy Gal project.

I'm on a high - very big high!

After writing yesterday's post the postman arrived. He delivered a big box from America.

I couldn't for the life of me think what it was. Had I won a giveaway (highly unlikely as I never do!), or had I ordered something online and forgotten about it (again not likely).

The Customs declaration form said it was a book. What on earth????? I'm sure I hadn't ordered anything recently. The Euro/Dollar/Sterling thing has put a stop to that!

Only one thing for it - start opening it! Now who do I know who lives in WI? Only Finn and I know she hasn't sent me anything and the name does look vaguely familiar. Questions, questions, questions. Start ripping and let's see what's inside.

Loads of bubblewrap. Whatever it is , it must be precious.

Screams, yells, jumping up and down - the family came rushing thinking I'd hurt myself.

LOOOOK!

It's from Kathie at Threadlines.

Her card says
"I happened upon a bargain priced copy of this book a couple of weeks ago. I already owned a copy; what to do with this new book?

I decided it belonged to someone who really wanted a copy and was unlikely to find one where she lived. "Someone" suggested you."

That "someone" received a phone call yesterday from a very incoherent me. Sorry Tonya - I probably wasn't making much sense!

Kathie - you are one of life's nice people. Thank you so very very very much. I still can't believe I now own this book and have to keep making sure it's actually on the table.

On that note - the sun is shining - for the first time it's warm - I've got a patio to pressure wash and Gwen Marston and Liberated Quiltmaking is going to have to wait until afternoon tea time, but I'll probably keep on popping into the kitchen to make sure it's still here!

Donc, A+

All Washed Out

Sleep

Except in my case it's quilting and DH has moved into the guest room :-(

I haven't slept properly for 3 nights - been up at 5 am for the last 3 mornings and haven't dared go back to sleep in case I sleep through the 6.30 am alarms and Alex misses the school bus. It's me age; it's me age.

I'm completely washed out.

I can' t get any material in my stash to match Tamzin's Quilt and it is depressing me. I thought about sashing 2 rows of Tonya's Wonky Hearts, but can't seem to get the fabrics to blend with one another. Think I shall put it away for a few days and do some therapeutic hand quilting.

I managed to get 3 hours sleep this afternoon - I was doing my nodding duck routine over the kitchen sink - so really hope I manage to get some sleep tonight.

So if you don't hear from me for a few days, please don't worry, I'm trying to get my body clock back on track.

Ooops - just remembered. I think there is a postal strike in the UK so anyone who is expecting packages from me I don't intend to send them now until after the strike is over.

Update 05-10-07 - look what I found - missed the boat AGAIN!!
