Red and White Strings - Help Needed Please

Here's the proposed layout.

It's on a double bed and The Old One thinks it needs another horizontal row. I think if I do that I'll need to add another vertical one. Which will mean cutting another 24 9" muslin squares!

What do you think?

ADDENDUM : I can't add borders.  I'm not going to use batting.  The quilt will be too heavy. So I'm going to back it with a flannel sheet, use the pillowcase method and then do some decorative stitches, or use buttons, to stabilise it.  So do I add more rows, or do I leave it?

You might want to just add several borders. That's what I did here.

You can still add borders on a flannel sheet. Just sew the existing blocks together and then stitch and fold the borders to the edge of your sheet. If your sheet is too small, then add to it from the edge of your block area and then stitch the borders. You did a really nice job on the blocks. You don't say if this is meant to go on a double bed or if you are just laying it out on one to show the pattern.

Clare, I think, like Goldilocks, that it is Just Right! It looks to be 6 blocks across by 8 blocks down, and that is perfect. I understand about no borders - they just don't work well with the muslin foundation method. I think you should sew it together and go for it! Good luck with whatever you decide.
