Family Trees Update

Plodding along very slowly.

You can see where it's pulling across the middle and bunching up on the left and right hand sides. There's a lot of pulling and stretching going on!

It looks as if it's plaited!
Actually its got a sort of olde worlde charm about it.

Hope to goodness the batting doesn't shrink cos this quilt is going to have to be washed when it's finished.  The white has tuned a pale grey colour and there are signs of cat paws, not to mention the odd tea stain (sigh).

More soon.

What do You Say?

Is it me, or do you find that when you've trawled through so many blogs each morning/afternoon/evening you run out of words?

Do you read what everyone else has said and try to not sound the same?

If you are the first person to leave a comment do you try to be witty?

I'll admit I'm useless.  Gorgeous.  Wonderful.  Love it.  Great work.  Love the colours.

Come on then.  Use this post of mine to be honest!

Speak!

N Q R

I finally received my Christmas and Birthday present from my Mum last week.  She put the wrong post code on the parcel and it went walkabout round France.

Lovely La Poste managed to get it here in the end.

On DVD!  The whole of Series 1 and lots of other goodies!

I watched a bit of it on TV when it was on last year, but it was on so late on a Sunday - 11.00 pm our time - that I missed most of it.

The Old One and I watched Episodes 1 and 2 on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and we watched them again last night with The Young One.

It really is brilliant!  If you haven't seen it, treat yourself to the DVD.  You'll love it!

Oh and Mum says Series 2 starts next month!

My First Day as Quality Controller

Mimi speaking.

I had to help whoever she is (not quite sure yet) poke this sharp thing through something and then pull some string out the other side with my teeth.  She wouldn't let me play with the string!

It was very tiring so I'm now resting.

She says she might let me help again tomorrow.

Gifts Galore!

The nice thing about having a birthday near to Christmas is that sometimes one hit's the jackpot!

The Old One let me order my Christmas presents online this year.  Word Play Quilts was part of the order.

My father then sent me an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday!  Woo hoo!

Here are my purchases.

Oh and the fabric too.  Lucky me!

I love the first Collaborative Quilting book.  We've got a table just like Gwen's sewing table, but The Old One say's it's too heavy for our floors and could end up in the sous sol!  He's using it for his tools instead.  What a waste!

Amish Abstractions is beautifully produced.  I've only got as far as the intro, but I love looking at the plates.  Can't find my original Roman Stripes which became Stripes or Strings

Got some sewing to do.

Speak soon.

Worker's Playtime

I decided to give myself a break from THE PLEDGE and have a bit of fun.  After all, a girl can only take so much red and white fabric!

It is also the Liberated Quilters group virtual online retreat this week so definitely play time.

I jumped in with both feet and took part in Tonya's latest challenge.

Oh boy!  What a challenge!

Bah!  was easy.  Water off a duck's back!  Done and dusted in a matter of hours.

A bit big, but never mind - 22" x 14"!

I then started on Hum and did I have fun!

The only trouble was the mmmmmm was 17" long.  So I decided to cut it in half and start again.

f

It seemed to take ages!  In fact it took most of yesterday.

I'm not as pleased with it as I was the previous version, but we can't have everything can we.

So on to BuG.

I haven't got any bug fabric so had to bite into the fabric I got for my niece's quilt, and here is the end result.

Phew - this liberated quilting lark is a tad mentally exhausting!

Think I'll go back to mindlessly piecing strings and red and white blocks!

Got some more stuff to show you, but am waiting for a package to arrive.

More soon.
