Can't See the Wood for the Trees

24252426

It's been an AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH few days.

I'm putting the binding on Quilt No. 9 which is going to a teenager in the UK.

Do you ever get the feeling that it doesn't matter what you do it's just Going To Go Wrong.  Well it did.  Sewing 2 1/2 stips together at right angles?  You know how sometimes It Just Won't Go?  Could I get the seams the right way round - like hell I couldn't!  4 strips, 3 beautifully matched, but I just could not get the 4th to go right.  Lots of unpicking, cutting ends off and starting again.  FINALLY CRACKED IT!

And then there are these.

Wonky Liberated Stars - yeah right.  Gwen's book open at the correct page - oh this is easy - NOT - Clare is running before she can walk again.  Back to the drawing board.  THINK BIG.
(Does anyone know how to make letters bigger in Wordpress?)

Phew - feel a bit better now.  Might have another go later, but got a quilt binding to sew on and then start on Quilt No. 10 which has already got an owner.

(AND I've had to ditch Google Reader and return to Bloglines.  Reader doesn't seem to want to open.  Sniff).

Somedays are just like that, who knows why. I like the stars, they are very interesting.

Glad you got the binding situation straightened out. Those are some wonky looking stars, lol. I love the tree picture - did you take that one?

Do you mind a mini lesson? Binding. Put the first strip good side up across the table in front of you. Put the second strip good side down on the right end of the first strip. Draw a line from upper left to bottom right. Pin. Turn the second strip so that it's good side up across the table in front of you. Put the third strip good side down on the right end and so on. Always take the previous strip and turn it so it's good side up. Always draw the line from upper left to bottom right. Hope this helps!

I can relate to days like that Clare. It’s best to decide to put it aside and do something else. A dive in the pool...!

Some days are like that, even in France. (Do you know that wonderful children's book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"?) Hope things look up!

I couldn't do the stars untill Gwen showed me in class. Twice. She said she'd seen lots of mistakes, but she'd never seen the ones I was making. I like to think that was a complement, somehow.
