Well I'm from the generation but never was a hippie, I was in the mainstream. But I remember the sixties well!
I came out just like you - which I think is about right. I was on the cusp of change - when I started college a fraternity man was always student body president and we wore skirts and stockings to class. My senior year a hippy was elected student body president and protest marches were starting to happen. I didn't do drugs or know anyone who did - but my sister - 2 1/2 years younger - did.
Oh my....I'm totally a hippie! (really???)
