yeah, you buy a bag of them at the pet supply store. (at least in the US). Otherwise, no I dunno. (sorry!)
I have to agree with the fist post! Even if there was a way i am thinking it would be way to much work when you can pick up a 5lb bag of crushed shell at the pet shop for less than $10.00! Look in the are with pet bedding or with bird cage litter!
Pestle & mortar and a LOT of patience?
i don't know how to crush them - although i would wonder about blitzing them in a blender......perhaps one purchased at a thrift store for cheap?? BUT i bought my crushed walnuts at a pet store...apparently they are reptile food.....(i mix the walnuts with silica gel to keep moisture out)
