Next Question

Here's Liquorice Lane as far as it's got. Not a very good photo I'm afraid as the light was not good.
I've now reached an impasse. I'm not too sure what to do with the border. I was thinking more sweet names (Allsorts, Fruit Gums, Smarties, etc) and The Old One thinks it should be quilted in black. What do you think?

I like the idea of more words on the border. I suppose you could do the words in black and keep everyone happy. Lol.

I'm with Joyce...how about using the black as the background for the words. Love the houses!

I think I would go with words and maybe some random designs (like you did in the rest of the quilt) in the border. I would use color for the quilting since you have already done that in the rest of the quilt. Also quilting black on black requires the eyesight of a 20 year old!

Claire this is looking so good for the border I would definitely choose some brilliant colours then quilt any wordings in black

Maybe a small black band, then a sort of Jelly Bean piano key (or irregular rectangles) border and more black? Quilted in variegated thread.

HI Clare....I sure like how this is turning out.....I'm NOT saying I agree with the 'Old One', but I really like things that are hand quilted using black thread!!

That is gorgeous. Mom loves the bright colors. As for the border, no need to rush. Let it sit, look at it a while, and it will come to you.
Mom would put color on the border, but that's mom.

I like the idea of more "sweet" words in the borders. Doing them all in black might make for an interesting contrast from the center of the quilt. Tonya is right though, you should do what YOU want to do!

had to comment on this fun house quilt with the great hand quilting-the colored words are wonderful...whatever you decide it will be great.
