A finish!

Well sort of.

I don't think you'd call this a proper quilt. The border is not quilted.

I was getting so fed up with it.  I started stitching the ditch and my fingers were bleeding and aching so much with all that pushing and pulling of the needle I gave up and tied the rest of it.

When I had done the inner border I looked at it and decided the rest didn't need doing and put it to one side.  Then Finn's Challenge came along so I pulled it out and put the binding on.

This wall hanging is going to be hung in a dark corner somewhere.  Not even I, who is not afraid of the Quilt Police, would dare put this on show.

I suppose at some point way off in the future I could return to it and tie the rest of it.

However, it has got me back into the groove, I've managed to cross off one thing for Finn's Challenge and I did a few fans on Ab Fab last night - woo hoo!

Thanks for putting in a link for Finn's Challenge! I am going to join so that I can finish something this year, too.
You're on the right track so keep it up. :o)

Finished is one of my favorite words. I have a fondness for tied quilts anyway - my daughter says they are "poofier.' A couple of times I have combined tying with quilting and actually liked the effect.

I was thinking that traditionally crazy quilts are tied anyway, but usually with the ties on the back side of the quilt. I could be wrong, but with all that fabric and embroidery, I can see where it would be a challenge to quilt.

I tie most of my large (bed sized) quilts... wall hangings I quilt, anything bigger too much work, too hard, too everything....

There's nothing wrong with tying a quilt! And this kind of quilt is a perfect candidate for it. Looks great!

I love this crumb quilt! Don't worry about showing it. In Gwen Marston's book about liberated quilting she has several crumb quilts that are tied and they are marvelous. Congrats on finishing!

Well, I really like it. I wish I had made it, and I'm stealing your border in red/black next possible opportunity.

Your crumb quilt is wonderful! You are inspiring me to put my pile of crumb blocks into a quilt in the near future.

Congrats on the finish! You may like it better after some time has passed. I know that's been the case for me a couple of times.

This quilt looks fabulous! The red and black border really make the colours sing! And remember, it's your quilt, and if you want to tie it, that's fine. Lots of old quilts are tied, and the ties usually on the front, as a bit of a decorative feature.

I think it looks fab! Don't put it down. We are not here to criticize each other, but to encourage and enjoy our quilt journeys!

Hey Clare, congratulations!! You get the gold star for your forehead as the first one to finish a challenge project! You see, big or small, short or tall ...we love to see them finished! The Crumb quilt looks wonderful. As for some tieing along with quilting...I've done all three on a couple of quilts. Machine quilted part, wasn't satified, so I tied the centers, and then did some hand quilting anyway! Anything goes you know! *VBS* Big hugs, so happy you found what was missing...me too!!
