I have been meaning to post a photo of something that I found lurking in the bottom of DH's tool box.
These were his mother's needlework scissors - goodness only knows why they were in his toolbox - men!
Anyway, I have retrieved them, given them a new home in my sewing box and they are lovely to use. I need to buy some very fine sandpaper. I'm going to try to see if I can get them back to what they used to be.

Men sometimes are clueless. :D
Oh wow... What a treasure. I'm sure you'll be able to make them like new.
PS: your tablecloth is gorgeous!
They look pretty. Hope you get them cleaned up like you want!
You are fortunate to have rescued the scissors. If only they could talk, the stories they'd tell! I have a family thimble from the 1880's and when using it, often wonder what things it helped to make.
These old scissors are a treasure.
ciao ciao
Very nice pair of scissor. Such a unique design on the handle. I wonder how old they are. I bet they will clean up nicely. They look very well-made and have already been through the worst of it - they are ready for a more caring home :))
