London 2012

Wednesday, 6 June 2007

I don't usually comment on what is happening in the Old Country and made a promise that I would keep off the subject of politics and what is happening outside my little corner of South West France, but this is something which just goes to show what money is being spent on when it could be going elsewhere.

Go to London 2012 logo - can you do better and see what you think. Our quilt designs are better than this!

I like the Underground Map one and the Smiley Faces, but then again I would as the designer of the latter is our very own Nick Cliffe who designed the Qs4L logo.

Perhaps if you voted for your favourite, Lord Coe would get the hint don't you think?

I have to agree with you there -- that logo is terrible. There are 89 others on the website that are better than that one.

The Olympic committee in Vancouver picked a stupid logo for the 2010 games here as well. They chose an Inukshuk, which has NOTHING to do with Vancouver and looks like the Jett Puffed marshmallow man in colour.

I can't imagine old Seb getting the message - he has the inherent arrogance of all politicians - and none of them, of any political persuasion or nationality, ever have the good grace to admit they might have got something wrong - I guess it goes with the territory. The most disgraceful thing is the cost £400,000 - they could've run a competition through all the design/art colleges and opened it up to all our young budding graphic designers giving the winner a real leg up at much less cost. Shambles really - just hope the rest of the thing isn't going to be like the Wembley stadium - bet Paris are laughing their socks off at us :o(

Ouch -- there are some truly lovely designs that were submitted to that site -- all of which represent England well, but THIS is what was chosen? Yuck.
