Border Options

After yesterday's post I've been doing some thinking. The Old One thinks the quilt looks as if it is in mourning (typical male) and I've yet to ask The Young One as she's only just surfaced and is busy drying her hair! Option 1 - yellow border.
Option 2 - orange border
Option 3 - orange and black borders
I suppose the orange could be replaced with the yellow. What do you think? I can't use any more of the purple I used for the inner border as I've only got a few bits left. A shame as I was thinking of the orange and continuing the inner border through the orange to an outer border in the same purple.

    dislike the yellow intensely. like the orange inner border followed by black - that's fun.

    I guess I am too much of a purist? Neither one does it for me, I prefer the black to these. Have you tried the light color (white, off-white, I can't tell which is in the quilt)? Sorry, I'm no help.

    The orange on its own seems to make the centre rather dull, but the orange with the black works really well.

    Of the options shown, the orange and black combo is my favorite. Here are another couple thoughts, don't know how they would work: 1- No border, 2-a thin black border followed by an outer border of bricks like in the inside. That latter one kind of appeals to me.

    I am a fan of yellow usually-but not as a border on this top- I have to agree-orange/black works in my eye

    in my huble opinion:
    * the yellow overpowers the beautiful centre
    * the orange appears washed out and boring
    * the orange and black provide a calm, almost expected frame...

    Personally, I think I would try the yellow with black as I think the yellow provides lots more "punch" than the orange, and I prefer loud....

    I like the orange and the black.
    the orange adds pop and the black makes the piecing fabrics pop

    great quilt!
    don't like the yellow at all, and I like yellow!

    I do not like the yellow at all. I like the orange with black the best. Do you have anything with dots that you could use? I am thinking some dots that would pick up one of the colors.

    I agree with everyone else. I don't like the yellow and prefer the last one. I too was wondering what some of the white would do.

    The yellow is such a nice clear yellow and the orange seems a bit dull. The yellow makes the center 'pop' but don't use too much or it will overpower the center. I vote for a wee inner border of yellow with the black outer.

    Another vote against the yellow! I like the solid black border best. The orange and black would be my second choice.

    Finn votes for the orange/black border. The yellow has the startled look of a deer in the headlights to me. I'm sure you'll make the right decision tho, and it's a great quilt whatever you decide. Hugs, Finn
