Blackcurrant Fool

What do you think?  Its roughly 14" by 17" at the moment.

The Young One says it's fine as it is, but I think the border needs to be bigger.  I'm thinking a very pale lilac and then black to throw the colours out.  Opps - just realise the two not contrasting colours top left.  White and very pale lilac do not look good together!

  1. Change one of those pale ones in the top left to the bright raspberry/magenta tone -- there's not as much of it up there.
    I LOVE these colors!

  2. Yes, I'm with you on the borders, I think it needs something to add that touch of zest to bring the colours out.

  3. More borders methinks..... but then it depends on the quilting, I often just leave one border on things that aren't going to be heavily quilted and are just to hang on the wall

  4. Hmmm ... how about a little funkiness in the borders, a splash or two of of mixed up color in a crumb block thrown into the border, or something like that? Like a bit of the blender contents that spilled onto the counter!

  5. Oh, it looks good! Oooopsie on the two lights next to each other. Could you stick in a thin strip to separate them? Or if you gonna do all that ripping anyway, just replace one.
I agree with Cheri about the border. A little more wonky-ness in the border would be fun. "spilled onto the counter" - great!

  7. a wonky pieced border would be lots of fun. maybe more of the scrambled 9-Patches? turn the quilt upside down and use the two lights together spot to add your name in quilting/embroidery

  8. Lovely! This is similar to the idea I have for those red, white, and blue scraps I scored in France! :) I'm not a border girl, so I'm with the young one - nothing more needed. Hope it's warming up down there!

  9. Actually I'd go v pale lilac thin border, then a pieced border of all the mid tones about medium width (similar in width to the one on the photo) then another thin pale lilac followed by a thicker outer black - but then I always love borders :o)

  11. It's lovely. I would go with a thin black border first and then the fun border, although I do like it as it is too!
