When I pick out the fabrics, they look so pretty on the table together. When they are cut up and sewn into the quilt, they often times look different. One color is more predominant than I anticipated, another color is less. I am almost always surprised when I see it quilted and bound.Pamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09614300010193583324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-58868141083456110582007-07-06T12:35:00.000+02:002007-07-06T12:35:00.000+02:00I try and make a plan first. I get very nervous at that point...maybe that is why I have so many tops laying around!!YankeeQuilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03324287185970922332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-5672142846704903052007-06-25T00:14:00.000+02:002007-06-25T00:14:00.000+02:00I'm involved with 4 "rings" and have tried to leav...I'm involved with 4 "rings" and have tried to leave a comment with each group. They are always up for grabs in the design department :>) I also am way behind in blogs....I think summer has gotten in my way!Judyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13874368184399612695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-14382118857799216422007-06-22T04:41:00.000+02:002007-06-22T04:41:00.000+02:00very, very rarely do I see a quilt come together i...very, very rarely do I see a quilt come together in my mind first. Only if I'm using a kit and making something more or less identical to a pattern. Otherwise it's always create as I go. I can't imagine trying to create something without a design wall. One gets such a different perspective when the pieces are up on the wall compared to layed out on the floor.

I sure know what you mean about reading blogs. I think I'm up to over 250 on my bloglines now, and at any given time I'm between 500 and 800 posts behind. I try not to worry about it - the posts will be there waiting for me when I get around to reading each one.Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07125491177774966237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-59170771770069436372007-06-21T20:17:00.000+02:002007-06-21T20:17:00.000+02:00It depends -- sometimes I can, for the most part. ...It depends -- sometimes I can, for the most part. I'll sketch out the entire quilt and create my "pattern" that way. So, when that happens, I have a pretty good idea of what is going to happen. Other times -- I have no clue until I get there. I'm working on one like that now. I have an IDEA of what it might end up looking like -- but really, not a clue.

Of course, if I'm using a commercial pattern -- the answer is yes, I know what it's going to look like. But I seem to use fewer of those than I used to.atethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13563533672161608587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-42586613103378511482007-06-21T09:46:00.000+02:002007-06-21T09:46:00.000+02:00Hello 'new Clare'!I've only made three quilts, so ...Hello 'new Clare'!

I've only made three quilts, so I don't think I'm qualified to say!

Plus I do a drawing of it first before I start making it, just to see if the colours and patterns will work out.Lilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09804113718224654006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24653933.post-90462697916264289802007-06-20T12:53:00.000+02:002007-06-20T12:53:00.000+02:00Unless I am sewing from a pattern, I have no idea ...Unless I am sewing from a pattern, I have no idea what my finished quilt will look like.
