Birthday Sewing

The Old One has gone to the OAP lunch hosted by the commune so I'm celebrating my birthday by having the house to myself and sewing, sewing, sewing.

Only one more row to go and then I think we have a flimsey.

Do the Gees Bend quilters quilt their quilts, tie them, or leave them?

More soon.

fun!!! the Gee's Benders definitely hand quilt. probably have to stab stitch through that thick material...

They usually hand quilt with a large, loose Baptist fan. Yours is gorgeous, and would look wonderful with a Baptist fan design. There's a great tute for that on Bonnie Hunter's blog.

Happy Birthday! Great way to celebrate by having time for yourself! I hand quilted my corduroy quilt and I had no major problem with the needling. I hope that is true for you.

fabulous way to celebrate your birthday! I agree with the answers you got about quilting your flimsey...though you could tie it and that would also be perfectly ok in my opinion! I love how your top turned out..and the obvious joy it makes you feel.

Happy Birthday! Sorry I'm a little late. What a fun way to spend your big day! Love the cord quilt - it's so cheerful and cozy looking. I think you could quilt this OR tie it - either way works. (I'm tying my cord quilt and it's so easy to get the needle through that I think I could have quilted it with no problem. I used a thin poly batting and brushed cotton on the back, and it's not thick at all.) Either way it will be fab!

I love seeing your progress on this quilt - each block is a work of art in itself.
