Decision Made

That's more like it!
(dreadful photo - sorry)

and I've found a way of quilting in a straight line.  You know what I'm like - can't cut or sew straight, even with a ruler.

Masking tape to the rescue!

I know your dilemna, so I use spray basting and it is so great, no wonky look as I hate the pinning which can be so hard on the fingers.
Lovely blog.
Here in Canada, and wishing I was in France....don't we all!

We are on track...I plan to post my fabric photo lineup today! Of course I have two lineups but by the time I post it I will have picked one...maybe....

Great minds think alike! I used masking tape the other day to keep my quilting lines somewhat straight. My cat was helping me, as usual, so I wadded up the used tape into a ball to occupy her while I sewed (think three-year-old). Now there are tape balls all over the house. She was even tapping me on the arm so I'd sew quicker and make her another tapeball! Of course, now she thinks she should get a tapeball every time I sew.

The red really livens it up. I have given up on straight line quilting...

That's the way I quilt straight lines too. Plus you can get different widths of tape to vary the width of your lines.

I use the blue painter's tape ... I can't keep my lines "straight" either (which is why I do a lot of wavy line quilting)

I'm another fan of using masking tape to create straight lines, whether quilting by hand or on the machine. Your piece is looking great.

Masking tape can't stay on a quilt for longer than a few hours at a time or it bonds to the fabric, leaving a sticky mess. Painters' tape, on the other hand, can be left for a good long time. It's a bit more expensive tho.
