Getting Back into a Rhythm

Temperatures still in the upper 20's and hardly a drop of rain has fallen on Le B for what seems like weeks. Torrential rain over most of the Dordogne last Monday, but hardly a drop here. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast for next Tuesday so we shall see if the weather fairy condescends to chuck some this way! Despite the heat, melting when I got anywhere near the iron and having to unplug the fan when I use the sewing machine, look what I produced yesterday afternoon. The bottom border could be a bit straighter and the top one has got a definite wobble in it, but hey isn't that being liberated (or just a tad too liberated :-) ). Going to start on the last border this afternoon and then it can join the other tops waiting to be quilted. I tried the new walking foot on The Blues the other day. I don't know whether it is me, or the foot, or the fact that I'm not 100% confident about machine quilting, but the darn thing jumps every so often. Only about 1/4 of an inch, but it's annoying. I don't think there is enough pressure on the foot. Is that normal with a walking foot? Is it supposed to "sit" on top of the fabric? Big Sigh! Practice makes perfect I suppose. I've never really liked The Blues since I made it so it doesn't really bother me that much. I've reset my blog counter to zero so please forgive me if I haven't left a comment on your blog recently.

I love that border. putzy stuff right? but so worth it! looks great. can't help you with the machine stuff, mine is doing the same thing right now... I adjusted the bobbin tension and it got better...mine also needs a serious cleaning from sewing all summer...

Clare, I love it. Those triangle trees add a lot, too. and I like the slightly wavy line

It looks great! And I love your slightly wonky border - it suits the quilt. I think you did a wonderful job on it.

Your quilt looks wonderful. Did you sew all those squares in the border? Or is it fusible applique? Either way, it looks like a lot of work. The only thing I can think about your quilting problem is maybe the weight of the quilt - are you using a flatbed? the foot moves up, so if you jerk it too fast, you could get a jump. It's all part of wonky quilting, so I would leave it that way.

I need to get my groove back too. Can't help with the walking foot, other than to suggest you fiddle with the tension.
