No Strings Attached

Here's part of the string quilt I'm making for a little girl in New York State.  I'm rather pleased with it.

I'll show another photo later in the week once I've got the borders on.

We don't normally celebrate Hallowe'en over here, but Alex got a call from a friend of hers asking if she wanted to go trick or treating yesterday.  I don't think Amandine knew exactly what it meant, but they did it anyway and got soaked.

It hasn't stopped raining for about 3 days and the forecast for the rest of the week is c**p!

I love the range on value you've got going in that string quilt! Makes the whole thing just "pop".

No-one seems to 'do' Hallowe'en much here either, just a few pumpkins around and about. Apart from a tremendous hailstorm on Tuesday last week (did you hear about the village in Devon that ended up with 4 foot hailstone drifts!) we haven't had any rain, just dreary, cold and damp.

The strings are great! And Alex's costume is really something. I once made my daughter a ghost costume of an old bedsheet. She was 3 years old, and it was the first time she went trick-or-treating. After the first person gave her some candy, I prompted her to say thank you by asking, "What do you say?" And she looked around, hesitated, and then said "Boo?"

I was reading about Gee's Bend quilts earlier and your strings look very much like theirs. I like your combination of colors. I really like that some of the strings are pieced.

Lovely quilt!

And great costume -- we actually had a few trick-or-treaters here in 77, and I was chuffed to bits. We had ordered a citrouille through school, and had a bag of candy on hand, so were hoping that the bell would ring.

It was a cold but dry night here, so the adorable little ladybird and her friend the sorciere stayed dry.

Slowly but surely the boxes are being emptied...gosh, it's nice to be in your own home again!

Great ghost! Too bad they got soaked. Hope that rain lets up soon or you'll have to start building an ark!
